Cultural Information: Qingming Festival

The Qingming Festival (Qing ming jie), or literally mean Clear and Bright Festival, falls on the 104th day after the Winter Solstice usually occurring around April 5 in Gregorian calendar. It is a time for people to go outside and enjoy the greenery of springtime ̤ (Ta qing), "treading on the greenery"), and also to tend to the graves of departed ones. It is an official public holiday in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
